EDUCATION INITIATIVE

UGNA PATHSHALA

In 2020, Director of Ugna Social Work Foundation (USWF) began “Ugna Pathshala” under the education programme of the organisation, with the objective of educating underprivileged children in rural India, special focus on educating girl child.

The Pathshala is incepted against the backdrop of lowest literacy level among rural
poor communities. In addition, social issues such as child marriage and child labour
which are common in many parts of India, especially rural areas.

The Pathshala’ s one of the objective is to stop migration of children who go to
cities in their early age to earn livelihood for their family and spoil own childhood. Mr
Chaudhary felt that there is a strong correlation between the prevalent societal evils
in the society such as superstitions, dowry deaths, caste system, and the fact that
girls are not educated. He believes that if girls are educated, they could contribute
not only to the economic development of the country but also lay the foundation for
a more just and equal society.

The first Pathshala was started at Navgachhi in Barri panchayat of Benipatti block
under Madhubani district in Bihar.
